FAQ
Can you explain the process?
Absolutely, you can find detailed information here onΒ The MilkyWayΒ page.
How do I send my inclusion?
Once you have purchased your keepsake you will receive our ππ²π΅π΄ππ¦πͺπ kit in the post (please allow up to 7 days), this contains a 5ml sample pot, a ring sizer if required, our order form and a pre paid envelope for you to return back to us.
How much breastmilk do i need to send?
Preferably 5mls, however we can work with as little as 3mls for one small keepsake.
Do I need to send more milk for multiple items?
5mls worth of milk dust is enough for us to make 3-4 small keepsakes, please ensure your sample pot is filled to the top.
Can frozen milk be used?
Yes! Even milk thats been frozen for many years can be used, however all milk must be thawed first to avoid any condensation on its return to us.Β
Can I use colostrum?
Absolutely! All milk is accepted, we've seen every colour and consistency, even bloody milk! This is exactly what makes your milkstones unique.
The only milk we cannot use is mouldy milk.
What does finish mean?
Once your stone is ready to be made, we can add in a pop of colour or shimmer if you wish.Β Please look at our page Finish to see the different options.
What does Adjustable band mean?
Our Solid Silver and Gold Plated rings can be purchased with aΒ HiddenΒ adjustable band. This is discreet (appears like a full band when worn) and perfect for wearing your ring on different fingers and if you need to alter the size.
I'm ordering a Full Band ring, how will you know my size?
All customers that have ordered a Full Band ring will automatically recieve a ring sizer inside their inclusion kit, please write your size on the order form included.
Can I wear my gold plated keepsake everyday?
We cannot guarantee the length of time that gold plated items will last, rings in particular can tarnish easily. Gold plated jewellery is coated with a thin layer of gold, and good after care must be taken to retain the integrity of the finish.
If you are considering to wear your jewellery everyday, we would recommend you purchase sterling silver or solid gold.
Can I make changes to my placed order?
Yes and No. We cannot change the original keepsake on your order, however the finish of your milkstone can be changed on request, so long as it's before production.
I'm an existing customer and would like to place another order, do you need more milk?
Your original 5ml sample is enough to make 3-4 keepsakes,Β if your past order was small then its likely we still have some of your left over milk dust. Please contact us first to check and for a returning customer discount code.
Please note. We store all left over milk for 12 months incase of loss, damage or future orders.
How do I know its my breastmilk or inclusion being used on my keepsake?
We understand alot of trust is required during the process of making your keepsakes and whilst it's impossible to prove. MilkyWay Ltd want our customers to know that we understand the sentiment behind your inclusions and you do not need to worry! We have an extremely strict system regarding inclusions, all orders are kept completely separate and labelled throughout the entire process. We take out each inclusion one order at a time and all worktops in our studio are thoroughly cleaned between productions. We can also provide photographs on request to put your mind at ease.
Do you offer returns or refunds?
Unfortunately not, due to the extremely personal nature of our products, it is not possible to return any keepsakes. If you decide to cancel your order once placed, Β£20 will be deducted from the total order to cover cost of inclusion kits and resources.
Cancellations must be within 4 weeks of placing your order, we cannot refund any time after this grace period.
We cannot guarantee the lifespan of gold plated jewellery as its impossible to monitor the aftercare of keepsakes once dispatched. We always recommend silver or solid gold for everyday wear.
Should any cubic zirconia, moissanite or birthstones fall out of your keepsake, we will repair or replace within two weeks and assume it is a suppliers error. Any time after this grace period, we are unable to assist and would suggest taking your ring to a local jeweller for repair.
In the event of a lost or damaged inclusion stone, MilkyWay will always try to help where we can, and replace your stone for a small fee.
All of our keepsakes are thoroughly cross checked before dispatch and posted via tracking service, however if you have any queries please email milkywaycontact@yahoo.com.
